Often one reads in the books about the birth of rock'n'roll myths - many go to bed dreaming of it. But seldom does one actually gets to witness it him(or her)self. To go to see [b]Os Haxixins [/b]play live may be this single one opportunity in your life, and in an era where the highest most rockers and band guys are capable of aiming for is to get their faces known for recycling old hooks and doing versions of old classics and everybody's favorites, this might be an even more precious experience.
Starting their career as the black sheep in São Paulo's "lost zone" in the early 00's (the far east part of town, where 9 out of 10 of the city's 'sixties', 'mod' or 'garage-psych' bands come from), remaining an obscure act and never having much faith put in them due to their extravagance, it is with awe that everybody now watch that little strange brother growing to be the most relevant band coming from the city in ages. After almost giving up the idea of recording an album due to the the difficulty of finding the right people and studio to make justice to their sound, in 2007 they finally joined forces with the very person writing this right now and spent a few days locked with this vintage equipment at the Berlin Bar in São Paulo.
The subsequential release of their debut LP on Groovie Records from Portugal saw the band touring Europe twice to awe-struck audiences, having their record re-released in the US by Get Hip Records and a brilliant 45 with two new originals being released again by Groovie Records the following year. The whole world's eyes (at least those from the worldwide "garage" rock'n'roll scene) turned to these exquisite and brilliant afro bearing fellas. Getting fan mail and love letters from the four corners of this world it seems their day has definitely come.
Most tales and curiosities about the band are unpublishable at the present day, so go see them play live, dig their music being sure that to either watch them loaded delivering a sloppy set full of vulgar displays of wildness, or catching an awesomely tight band showing all their songwriting, arrangement and playing skills, you're witnessing a story bound to be in the books of tomorrow.
